The Hidden Agendas in the race for Colorado Attorney General

There are e hidden agendas in the race for Colorado's Attorney General. Two powerful positions in Colorado government control how, where, and who gets to vote., Secretary of State and Attorney General. Both are on the ballot November 3; It is where the battle between "election deniers" such as the GOP candidate for Attorney General, Michael Allen, and Jena Griswold, the Democrat's candidate. It is where state control of elections plays out in n the attorney general's race. It is also about who will defend Colorado's "right to choose" if a foe of women's reproductive rights is in the AG's saddle. While these are lurking elephant-in-the-room issues now, they will be even hotter in the next two years leading up to the presidential campaigns.

Both of these agendas should also be viewed in context as a nationwide GOP strategy to support election deniers in key governmental positions and the always continuing drive to force all states to be anti-reproductive rights. https://www.nytimes.com/2026/08/06/us/politics/a-growing-number-of-election-deniers-hold-key-local-roles-in-midterms.html

On one side is Jena Griswold, who has effectively defended with guts and success on the national stage state-by-state control of elections as Secretary of State, Democrat, and on the other hand is Michael Allen, GOP El Paso DA, who embraces "election denier" policies such as "preferring in-person voting" over mail-in voting and the oppressive SAVE Act, among core positions. Also under attack by Allen's MAGA cohorts in the next four years will be the perennial issue of women's reproductive rights and Trump's attempt to meddle in the 2028 presidential elections with bully tactics, including ICE or military presence. The resistance against both attacks will be played out in the courts, and who is Attorney General is critical to the outcome.

Allen has successfully buried these major issues by claiming, without specific evidence or concrete examples, that he is a better administrator than Griswold. For claiming she is a poor administrator, dang, she certainly has been effective in holding off Trump's attacks on our elections. Allen experience he touts has been effective in supporting election denial and ballot issues banning abortion in the case of rape and incest, too. Griswold is a supporter of reproductive rights, while Allen has supported ballot initiatives banning abortion even in the case of rape and incest. Those are the elephants in the room that are the hidden agenda of his supporters.

There is a good reason why Allen and his supporters are trying to make some experience and administrative reasons to vote for him. He is out of step with both mail-in ballots and the issue of women's choice. 87% of Colorado voters are satisfied with the system and 65% are pro-choice per polls and evidence cited in a Google AI seaarch. Even the issue of "experience" is a campaign theme has its problems. https://mufticforumblog.blogspot.com/2026/10/a-message-to-my-friends-who-have.html
