Usually the military stages coups. Could Jan.6 public hearings verify the military stopped one?

In the history of violent coups, the military is usually the one who commits them... In 2020-2021, the military may have saved US democracy. The January 6 select committee could be an eye opener.? .Sworn testimony by witnesses in public hearings as are being scheduled will provide that opportunity to present to the public whatever evidence there is if Trump planned to use the military to keep himself in power. This  is more than speculation given the number books and documents  and interviews by former officials in the public record,  but there is nothing better than sworn testimony held on TV to shape public perception..     Gen Milley, Chair of the Joint Chiefs, had a history post Lafayette Square and George Floyd summer of unrest of opposing active military in domestic demonstrations. . The latest book by former defense secretary Mark Esper reveals  Gen. Milley was bent on  defending democracy.   Esper recounts his experiences and whispered fears in the Pentagon that Trump may attempt to stage a military coup during the transition period. .. . Esper book details Trump rage at Pence and proposal to hit Mexico with missiles | Donald Trump | The Guardian   Esper recounts he restrained Trump from abusing the military several times while he was Secretary of Defense.   Esper was terminated by Trump and replaced with Trump's yes men shortly after the November 2020 election,  That firing of Esper raised eyebrows of concern at the time that Trump was up to something.

Uda;ted 9/15/21 Bob Woodward's and Bob Consta's newest book reports that Milley feared that TruItmp might start a war after the election and around January 6 as a way to stay in power and General Milley took measures.
