The damage to the Supreme Court by the leak: the shift of power to legislatures

Updated: May 8, 2022 Within a day after the leak of the majority draft of the majority opinion that would overturn Roe v Wade reflecting the most radical and extreme view of banning abortion with virtually no exceptions,  the right-wing wanted voters to focus on the "whodunnit" leaked the document and the left made it a voter turnout motivation for their base and swing voters in 2022 that had been mired in the doldrums. The greatest damage this has done to the importance and power of the Supreme Court is a shift from it to legislative branches, federal and state.

Opinion writers and cable talkers speculated on the demise of the Supreme Court power for being too ideological and was the result of a decade of careful pro-life Senator's and state house strategy to be an independent bank of judges just ruling on whether this or that issue conformed with the Constitution. Because the vast majority of the voters want Roe v Wade to survive, the Court is in danger of being so out of step with the majority of the nation, the respect for the Court will also diminish.  What is clear on the abortion issue, the Supreme Court's radicalism and swing to the right will cause the political focus to ignore the Supreme Court's majority's decree whatever it is and the action and power centers will be the federal and state legislatures and their makeup in 2022 and 2024.  Polls show over 70 percent of Americans oppose abortion bans without exception, which is the leaked draft..
