Democrat's simple messaging on Trump's corruption updated 6 15 2025

More suggestions for Democrat messaging in 2026.

The message should be kept brief and simple, based on what is public information.  It is not that complicated,  and should be repeated, repeated, repeated..

The issue: Nixon: It isn't illegal if the president does it. Trump: It isn't illegal if it is done in the open.

  • FYI: Bribery and emoluments from foreigners are still criminal acts, whether in the open or not.  Trump flaunts his greed and grift with meme coin dinner attended by foreign interests, $400 million gift of a 747 he solicited himself, and lucrative crypto deals with Middle Eastern royalty.
  • GOP Congress and the judiciary are the only powers left to stop the Trump regime's corruption. The judiciary is under attack and is being bullied by Trump and his supporters.

The damage:

  • Dangerous precedent: Now any future president can also make a personal profit by being president, too, if Trump gets away with it.
  • Corruption does not benefit citizens' interests and concerns or their financial well-being. There is no trickle down as the greedy pocket the proceeds. Tax policy is what benefits the greedy and grifters.
  • Governmental policies are not made in the interest of ordinary citizens, as policy priorities often serve the self-serving interests of those who have been bribed and those who have bribed, allowing the corrupt to fulfill their deals.

Evidence now it is happening

The big beautiful bill and DOGE are exhibit #1 of this .Environmental and consumer protections are gutted, and millions living on the margins, kids , disabled, elderly in nursing homes, lose access to health care and nutritious food., and government watchdogs over corruption are fired. They are sacrificed to governmental support of making the ultra richer even richer who use their wealth to finance electons of those who support their goals, from the Oval office to local governments and Congress.

           https://www.pbs.org/newshour/show/private-event-with-crypto-customers-fuels-accusations-of-trump-profiting-off-presidency

The answer:

In 2026, at least Congress, likely the House, can be changed so that it can bolster the rule of law and expose corruption. Vote the MAGA bums out.

(Yet to be felt: inflation and consumer price increases caused by tariffs, as well as a possible recession, may eclipse any other  issues in 2026, particularly  this summer and fall.)

Neguse and others  anti corruption bill: from Next-Generation Lawmakers Unveil Legislative Agenda to End Corruption in Washington D.C. | Congressman Joe Neguse

The End Corruption Now legislative agenda targets conflicts of interest and would put a stop to the selling of access and influence, including banning Members of Congress from trading stocks or becoming lobbyists, and strengthening anti-corruption laws. It includes the following bills:

  • The Close the Revolving Door Act, introduced by Rep. Joe Neguse, places a lifetime ban on Members of Congress from serving as lobbyists. The bill is championed in the U.S. Senate by Senator Michael Bennet. Read the bill text HERE.
  • The Restoring Integrity in Democracy Resolution, introduced by Rep. Angie Craig, would prohibit Members of Congress from serving on corporate boards. Read the bill text HERE.
  • The Transparent Representation Upholding Service and Trust (TRUST) in Congress Act, introduced by Rep. Seth Magaziner, effectively bans Members of Congress, their spouses, and dependent children from trading individual stocks by requiring them to either divest from individual stock holdings or move their investments into a qualified blind trust during their entire tenure in Congress. Read the bill text HERE.
  • The No Corporate Crooks Act, introduced by Rep. Chris DeLuzio, prohibits any chief executive officers, in either the public or private sector, convicted of covered financial crimes from serving in the executive branch. Read the bill text HERE.
  • The Stop Millionaires Using Service for Kickbacks (MUSK) Act, introduced by Rep. Pat Ryan, requires government employees defined as Executive Schedule (I-IV) employees, Special Government Employees, and people in the Executive Office of the President to recuse themselves from any matters affecting the financial interests of their previous employers for the four-year period. Read the bill text HERE.
  • The Integrity in Government (IG) Act, introduced by Rep. Hillary Scholten, strengthens checks and balances by installing new oversight measures for the White House and its top offices and protecting independent watchdogs from political retaliation. Read the bill text HERE.
  • The Closing Bribery Loopholes Act, introduced by Rep. Emilia Sykes, closes loopholes in the federal bribery statute by clarifying the definition of an “official act” by a public official. The bill expands the definition to prohibit public officials from improperly using their position for private gain. Read the bill text HERE

The End Corruption Now agenda is endorsed by Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), Public Citizen, and Project On Government Oversight (POGO).

Impeach Trump or not to impeach Trump..that is the question

To impeach or not to impeach Trump...that is the question. It may be more of a timing issue, dependent on the flipping of the House from red to blue in 2026, which is looking more and more likely given the three-seat GOP margin now. To attempt to do that now is silly since MAGA still controls its House majority. Rewriting history to make the dear leader look flawless is the stuff China and other doctorship run countries use to control the thought of their subjects. That Trump was impeached twice is now removed from the Smithsolnian museum. Removal of Trump From Smithsonian Impeachment Exhibit Sparks Outrage - Newsweek
A simple majority is required to impeach. The attempt for impeachment now got an explosive comment and pushback per a report: https://www.thedailybeast.com/dems-explode-on-dumbst.../...
As much as Trump deserves impeachment, it is a fools errand at this time and could backfire on Democrats in 2026 who need independents and business interests to flip the House, deiverting attention from other issues like the economy or racism and Musk's chainsaw destruction of popular services.
However, if and when the time comes, Democrats have an obligation to try, given the out-of-control arrogance of Trump's corrupt actions concerning the emoluments clause, given the uproar of the Qatar gift of a 747 jet to be used now and after he leaves the presidency. Trump's selling access to foreign investors in his meme coin and benefiting from involvement in his stablecoin cryptocurrency scheme all allow foreign interests to shape Trump's policies to their benefit. They also give avenues for domestic abuses of campaign contributions. He must be held accountable, or else future presidents will likewise use these kinds of acts as acceptable corrupt practices with no repercussions.
Unless the Senate, which has the power to oust Trump from office if the House impeaches (like an indictment), has an unlikely shift enough to meet the supermajority required to convict, Trump will likely be able to serve out his four-year term. However, having three impeachments as his legacy, instead of just two already, is not a great record for the history books. So far as prosecuting Trump for a crime, forget that one: the DOJ is his MAGA tool, and the Supreme Court granted him immunity, as well. Impeachment, even if it does not remove him from office, will serve as a lesson for any future president contemplating a corrupt practice.

Feathering his own nest, Trump trades on his position in crypto, updated 5/7/2025

It seems like a century ago, but it has been only a handful of years. Do you remember the years the GOP tried to find evidence and proof of the Biden crime family and other than a weapons charge, found nothing that connected Hunter's questionable dealings in Ukraine with making his father rich? How about what the Trump "crime family" is up to in plain sight? And no one on the MAGA aisle cares and both Trump and his kids are feeding at the trough of conflicts of interest and trading on the position of dad in the Oval  Office.  Where's the outrage now?  Is it Nixon's arrogant boast: if the president does it, it isn't a crime? The  Trump administration is clearing the way for corruption. Buying access through buying Trump's coin gets you a dinner or a night in the Lincoln bedroom. There is probably nothing more corrupt than this that even those who do not grasp crypto details can understand.. Trump offers private dinner to the top investors in his meme coin | CNN Politics  Access to the president from foreign and domestic "investors" is sold to the highest bidder and the proceeds go into the president's pocket.  Meme coins are a form of crypto.

Updated 5/7/2025 and revised and moved to a separate posting. https://mufticforumblog.blogspot.com/2025/05/crypto-trump-and-his-family-investments.html

Continue with original post.

April 8, 2025, the Trump administration's controlled Department of Justice closed down its crypto section.  As Trump now raises money for himself, the use of crypto technology like meme coins and cryptocurrency is now freed from federal law enforcement. Hear no evil, see no evil, so did no evil? scrutiny. https://www.reuters.com/world/us/us-justice-dept-disbands-cryptocurrency-enforcement-unit-2025-04-08/  The Trump family is also heavily invested in cryptocurrency and their Stablecoin venture which also can convert cryptocurrency into US dollars.

And now the Trump kids are taking crypto to the most corrupt and greedy level yet,. " A deal for a state-backed Emirati firm to use a Trump-affiliated digital coin was announced in a panel that included the president’s son and his business partner, who promised, "This is only the beginning.' ” https://www.nytimes.com/2025/05/01/us/politics/trump-cryptocurrency-usd1-dubai-conference-announcement.html?unlocked_article_code=1.D08.4Tst.3jIYRxMCYbaI&smid=url-share

Since Trump now controls the entire executive branch, has already gained control over official federal scrutiny of his crypto dealings and or foreign influence.  Left to expose will be by what is left of the free press with enough guts and resources to take it on. An outcry from voters objecting to this on the basis of conflict of interest or any violation of a law will depend upon the lay public becoming very knowledgeable about  how a crypto system that can hide wrongdoing, even if they do not understand the nitty gritty speculative nature of crypto itself.

One job that the press, the resistance, and elected Democratic officials can do is to educate the public about why and how the Trump family benefits from trading on the Oval Office occupation. Education about what crypto is itself is as complicated as the system itself. However, the fact that the Trump family profits from fees in owning and promoting their cryptocurrency and direct sales of meme coins lines the pockets of Trump himself is not a concept hard to understand.  Also, it is easy to hide who contributes, including foreigners and very difficult to trace. Hint: Access to these private, nonofficial currencies is encrypted, and investors and traders are identified by addresses, not by name. It will also depend if enough of the public cares a whit. A congress launching an investigation or impeachment will depend on the outcome of the 2026 midterm elections, which will give Democrats control and the ability to do it.

Senate Democrats are targeting pending legislation to spotlight Trump and family crypto dealings and to propose reforms that would ban elected Washington decision makers from investing in crypto. https://www.axios.com/2025/05/06/trump-coin-democrats-crypto-stablecoin   Other Democrats in Congress are calling for hearings.  The term being connected to the Trump family and Trump himself crypto business acts is "ethic violations", not criminal acts. Of course, the President himself is immune to criminal prosecution due to the rulings of the Supreme Court. However, he is not immune to impeachment, though that would take a cataclysmic change in who gets elected to Congress in 2016.

How the Trump administration is clearing the way for corruption, updated to 5/27/2025

Update: 5/27/25 https://www.thenation.com/article/politics/trump-crypto-corruption-unpunished/    The gist of this story is that Democrats have their hands in the crypto pot, too.

Updated 4/30/2025) and repeated in The  Trump administration is clearing the way for corruption. Buying influence in Trump's coin gets you a dinner: there is probably nothing more corrupt than this. Trump offers private dinner to the top investors in his meme coin | CNN Politics  Access to the president from foreign and domestic "investors" is sold to the highest bidder and the proceeds go into the president's pocket.  Meme coins are a form of crypto. On April 8, 2025, the Trump administration's controlled Department of Justice closed down its crypto section.  As Trump now raises money for himself, the use of crypto technology like meme coins and cryptocurrency is now freed by him from federal law enforcement scrutiny. https://www.reuters.com/world/us/us-justice-dept-disbands-cryptocurrency-enforcement-unit-2025-04-08/  The Trump family is also heavily invested in cryptocurrency and their Stablecoin venture which also can convert cryptocurrency into US dollars.  https://www.nytimes.com/2025/04/29/us/politics/trump-crypto-world-liberty-financial.html

Continuing with the original plus updates through 4/28/2205:

Crypto itself it is a favorite of those who want to disguise their transaction since the buyers and the exchanges that facilitate trades and transactions only record the "address" of the participant and not the name. Transactions can be traced but they take time, effort, and skill for law enforcement to trace to actors. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cryptocurrency_and_crime#   Per Google AI, cryptocurrency transactions are generally traceable due to the blockchain's public ledger and the reporting requirements of exchanges. While not directly tied to a person's name, transactions are recorded with public addresses and can be traced through blockchain analysis and by linking these addresses to individuals through exchanges or other data.

Update 4/12/2025 https://www.politico.com/live-updates/2025/04/11/congress/tariffs-insider-trading-allegations-democrats-00286880  Insider trading in DC by lawmakers and the President is a nagging form of corruption. It is a crime elsewhere. but not there. Insider trading occurs when someone has information of an upcoming event or executive order that a certain stock or the market in general will have a sudden increase in the future and buys the stock now, knowing that they can sell it at a large profit when the stock does soar. Lawmakers and the White House think they can get away with this crime. The issue rose when Trump publicly said it's a good time to buy shares now, and then four hours later he announced a pause in the tariff wars that caused the market to take off like a rocket. Trump is immune, remember, from being charged with a crime thanks to the Supreme Court. His staff or cabinet members are not immune.

4/1/2025  observation:  A warning to Democrats: If Musk becomes such a political liability or his Tesla losses are severe enough, either Trump or Musk himself will remove himself from the political stage. At that point, the "oligarch problem" becomes less of a negative for Trump.   The anti-oligarch attack could be a short term strategy.  However, the entire Trump regime and Trump himself are still fair game.  As complicated as it is, Trump family grift will still be a vulnerable political liability.  For that reason, the Democrats should not put all of their Musk eggs in one basket and still keep Trump himself an an object of disaffection due to widespread nature of his own grift.

Continuing with the original post. Stablecoin (a cryptocurrency) is supposed to be backed one-for-one with real dollar assets, which can be converted and exchanged for real money.  Crypto is virtually unregulated. Stablecoins provide very effective ways to launder money and to use it for influence peddling anonymously.   Stablecoins can be converted to hard cash mostly through unregulated exchanges.  It is suspected that money laundering has been handled by such exchanges.  These exchanges had been under scrutiny by US law enforcement.
