A possible red bull jolt for Ukraine support fatigue

 https://www.cnn.com/.../support-ukraine-trump.../index.html

This is a concept as fatigue sets in with the support of Ukraine, and the war reaches a stalemate similar to the trench warfare of WW I. Western Nations holding Russian funds should freeze them and set up a reconstruction fund for Ukraine, not only funding Ukrainians from Russian money but also providing a reconstruction fund kept out of the hands of Russia. Russia cannot get away with what it did, invading a country to absorb it on its own. Currently, per Zakaria, Russia is holding on waiting for the election of Trump who would hand over Ukraine to Russia, eliminating any ability for Ukraine to keep up the fight,

What Trump plans for his second term and how he will do it

This is not the prattling of a madman, but it is what he plans to do and the plank he will run on, with stealth or right out in the open for all to see.  He learned much from his first term and is determined not to repeat it.  His plans are straight out: to end democracy as we have known it and to become a dictator within four years.   This is not a fantasy; he could pull it off. Poll: Biden’s standing hits new lows amid Israel-Hamas war (nbcnews.com).Trump: 46%; Biden 44%. Believe him; he has been upfront on it, and it is being used as a sales pitch to recruit his campaign workers now.  The groundwork is already being laid by the misnamed Heritage Foundation, and money is being raised. Donations have surged to groups linked to conservative Project 2025 (nbcnews.com)  The related groups have issue agendas that would roll back any legislation that hurt their special interest groups or ideology.  Project 2025's issues agenda: Analysis Exposes Trumpian Project 2025 as 'Far-Right Playbook for American Authoritarianism' (commondreams.org)  in which it finds their agenda is to elevate Christian nationalism, gut civil service, reverse progress on racial, eviscerate LGBTQ+ rights, restrict reproductive freedom, roll back climate action, end "woke" military, overhaul public education, and curb human rights?  These are the money backers that would come into power as Trump, on his part, replaces those who are disloyal with his appointments, including replacing 50 thousand civil servants who do not pass the loyalty to Trump and MAGA and get purged and using the FBI and DOJ to go indict opponents, and continue to use fear of retribution to any in the federal government who would oppose him, while using the military to put down public demonstrations who object.  The damage to our foreign policy and the fear a Trump repeat would do to national security and the security of our allies is also major. Alarm bells are ringing worldwide..Donald Trump poses the biggest danger to the world in 2024 (economist.com).    Donny Deutsch, 11/20/23 on Morning Joe, the advertising guru, rang a bell with me when he said "to go for the gut" in Biden's campaign. "Trump is dangerous; Biden is safe". This depends on Biden and backers educating voters about why Trump is dangerous and convincing them, as well.  So far, not enough voters have gotten that message and will not, until Biden and his supporters start drawing that contrast as a major theme.

The Heritage Foundation wants to bring to the end the heritage of our kind of democracy.  It is the diametric opposite of the Federalist Society, which was basically state rightist. Trump's plan is to make the executive branch the governing tool over all the other branches, judiciary and legislative..  His first order of business is to get revenge against those who had and are opposing him.  It has nothing to do with issues or improving citizens' lives. Justice for him means getting revenge against his opponents of the past.  However, those organizations backing his proposals also have an issues agenda that is just plain scary.

From the New York Times article section headings: https://www.nytimes.com/article/trump-2025-second- If you can get the article, each paragraph contains links to Trump's own words made in public and how he tried before to do something similar.  If you get hit with the paywall, here is a summary, with some comments by me in italics.:

"Trump wants to use the Justice Department to take vengeance on his political adversaries."..  In an interview with Univision he declared" he could, if someone challenged him politically, have that person indicted,"   ‘That’s insane’: CNN panel on what Trump said he would do if re-elected (msn.com)

Alarm bells are ringing as Biden's support among Hispanics is eroding .  Biden's surprising vulnerability: non-white working-class voters (axios.com)(my own comment: Univision's new owner is aiming to turn Hispanics into Trumpsters on the basis that the ills they are escaping are socialism. The real evil is a dictatorship, socialist or communist or fascist, and the message to Hispanics is that they are trading one dictatorship for another one. (This mindset, fear of "socialism" as in Venezuela and Cuba, played a major motivation for Miami turning red and in Florida as a whole:  Listen up, Hispanics: Trump considers their kind who are here "illegally" as "vermin" who are adulterating "our blood". What sort of fools are Hispanics to swallow this?s.) Univision Anchor Leon Krauze Exits After Network's Trump Interview (variety.com)  However, Biden's loss is now reaching past those recent immigrants from Cuba and Venezuela, per the Axios article, but not as much as the Florida situation reflects in other states. GOP rides Latino support in Florida as Miami-Dade turns red | AP News

Related  NYT article section head: "He intends to carry out an extreme immigration crackdown"  with sweeping raids, using military funds to camps to hold undocumented detainees (including those already here for decades), declaring public-health emergency law to shut down the border, ending birthright citizenship.     (My comment: Nearly every family I know with documented and legal members also has those Trump would consider illegal and subject to being sent to his detention camps, including Dreamers)

From the NYT section heading: "Trump has plans to use US military force closer to home", including using federal troops to crack down on protests and to intercept and detain undocumented migrants, using the insurrection act to get around possie comitatus laws forbidding using the active military to enforce domestic laws.  (My comment: General Mark Miley refused to use active troops either for January 6 or against civil unrest, but Trump has already said he should be executed for his treason ...committed against Trump: Mark Milley says Trump disrespected US military with execution comment | CNN Politics )

NYT section head: " Trump and his allies want greater control over the federal bureaucracy and work force"...which to alter civil service rules and "enabling him to fire thousands of federal workers and replace them with loyalists" and a related NYT section head: "Trump allies want lawyers who will not restrain him:" including replacing Federalist Society lawyers.

Are Florida’s Hispanic voters moving more to the right? – WFTV

A personal note: Why am I so interested in the Hispanic community.  My father's grandmother was from Spain, and as a child in eastern Colorado (Brush, Ft. Morgan, Hillrose), his family was bilingual. When I moved to Colorado in 1963, I made it my mission to help Hispanics get a leg up politically and economically in the community, and I began volunteering. My physician husband's closest associate was a Hispanic GP from southern Colorado practicing in Denver. His OB-GYN  practice was bilingual, as well. He was from southeastern Europe and a culture similar to his patients. Every governmental agency I headed or provided community relations services non-profit and private, offered bilingual services, and involved local Hispanics on staff.  I was cabinet and staff for nearly 8 years in the Federico Pena administration when he was Denver's mayor. My largest client as a PR consultant for almost 15 years was auto dealer Mike Shaw, who hailed from the Rio Grande Valley with deep Hispanic roots in Texas. He is a philanthropist at heart, focusing on helping Hispanic youth, among many other disadvantaged, get an education.  A few years ago, he was named National Dealer of the Year by his trade association (NADA) and was the first minority owner of dealerships to be so honored.  We did not share the same political party affiliation, but we shared his philanthropist goals.

Learning from history a challenge: current events are not always connected

One of my most nagging puzzles is why voters do not see the connection between the emergence of fascism in the 1930s and the similarity of Donald Trump and his followers.  There are books devoted to making the connection, but frankly, few read books these days.  Rachel Maddow in her book Prequel has done a yeoman's job of educating so many about the history of how fascists were so influential in the US in the late 1930s and even into 1944 after Germany declared war on the US and the war effort was in full swing.   We know how that ended. Been there, done that.  The question becomes, could it have happened to the US, too?  Can it happen in 2024?  It came close in the late 1930's. What Donald Trump has been proposing to do lately if elected is "full-on Hitler," as Joe Scarborough tagged it recently.  Yawn.  More politics. Who cares? More over-the-top gibberish from the never-Trumpers, libtards.

Those of us who studied the years leading up to World War II as part of our academic studies in college were aware of what went down in 1930's -1944. I was in shock learning how JFK's father, the ambassador to the UK in those years, admired Hitler. There is nothing like having lived through post-war World War II as my generation did to wonder how we, the US, could have been so foolish and blind to fall for Father Coughlin as many other fascist lovers did. Influential Senators had such political power that it kept FDR from staying out of the armed conflict and just armed England with weapons as it was being reduced to rubble in the Blitz.  Unfortunately, there are not many of us left with that hands-on or immediate post-war experience. My reaction was to spend my junior year in Berlin, 1958-1959, to see if I could get a feel for how such a well-educated and civilized society like Germany could have bought into Hitler.  I never exactly got an answer because, looking back at it, the reason the surviving Germans were so similar to the people in the US.  Despite that, I never dreamed it could happen here because the fascists were considered so evil. Now, via Trump, it is revisiting us.  The folly of the American Firsters, the German-loving isolationists of the 1930s, and the same ones today is that the US is not an island. We are even more interconnected by the internet and trade pandemics, so our economy and national security are more intertwined with the world than in 1941. Europe fears a Trump second term for fear he would not support them and Ukraine. Economist calls Trump "biggest danger" for 2024 (axios.com)   One problem is that in today's media and life experience, we do not make that connection between history and current events that are happening at such speed and in such detail and conflicting opinions that we do not have time or brain bandwidth to absorb and reflect on what history teaches us about what we should not ever try again.

A perfect example of how current events not part of history books or connected to history are playing out in the Hamas-Israel war. Whether the plight of the Palestinians will be an issue a year from now is unknown.  The obvious unconcern for their safety by the IDF has hit a sympathetic vibe among younger voters and the public at large.  Biden's polls, already poor, took a very big dip in the past month with the messaging on the Hamas-Israel war. How short of our memories. However, much depends upon the progress made in the two-state solution and Biden's support for years and if he can engineer that, as well as to credit for his wisdom and skills.   In short,  much can happen between now and November 2024. Also, the participation by neo-Nazis in pro-Palestinian demonstrations should be a red flag to university students that are supposedly educated about history. They are being played by some ugly forces. . Neo-Nazis and the Far-Right Are Trying to Hijack Pro-Palestine Protests (vice.com)   Trump has also called to ban Gaza refugees from immigrating to the US and well as his history of stoking Islamaphobia.  That is the contrast that Biden can make.  Opinion | A short history of President Trump’s anti-Muslim bigotry - The Washington Post

Reposted Nov. 26, 2023  As Biden is showing weakness from younger voters, getting a message to them becomes ever harder.   Update from prior posting.: 11/24-26/23   https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2024-election/poll-bidens-standing-hits-new-lows-israel-hamas-war-rcna125251How to communicate with young voters who get their news from social media like Chinese related TikTok, instead of even cable and broadcast means that communicators need to meet them where they are.  The message should be clear: ID their issues and point out how the GOP would fail them and how Democrats would and have tried to help.  The other fear is that out of a " plague on both your houses", younger voters would vote for some third-party candidate. It Isn’t Just TikTok: Americans Like Other Chinese-Owned Apps Too | Wilson Center

 https://www.motherjones.com/politics/2023/06/no-labels-exposed-heres-a-list-of-donors-funding-its-effort-to-disrupt-the-2024-race/?fbclid=IwAR2i9xlb8z3TDNW_Fpi8OM5mpgCBsoLczPbhqI73S4H8uOEuCwrxwlYMyZ0

Two can play that game regarding messaging, but Democrats should get their game face on. and then flood Gen Z's preferred social media platforms with messages refuting the negative messages they are hearing.  I wonder if there is any effort on the part of the DNC or Biden campaign organizations to do that.  The messaging should not be difficult for Biden forces to construct: If Gen Z is concerned about student loans, gun violence, social justice, choice, gender issues, climate range, the GOP and the Trumpsters have a terrible record. If freedom to vent and voice their protests, Trump actually wants to put out of business media that does not support him and if there are demonstrations, he wants to use the active military to put demonstrations down, invoking the insurrection act on day one.

(Update: 1 14 2024:  Dave Williams, Colorado GOP Chair and now candidate for the House seat in Colorado vacated by Rep. Lamborn, made national news with a campaign slogan  running earlier for Lamborn's seat (and lost) that he incorporated in his name as "Dave Lets go Brandon Williams" which was disallowed by the Colorado Supreme Court.  The "Let's go, Brandon" slogan was standing for F...K Joe Biden.  In response, the Biden campaign (per MNBC, Jen Psaki, says the counter meme of "Dark Brandon" is gaining traction with the TikTok generation.  https://www.tiktok.com/channel/dark-brandon-meme?lang=en)  That is indeed fighting fire with fire.  Laser eye, aviator glasses Biden strikes back.

While it was not immediately obvious, Biden put pressure on Israel to agree to the hostage exchange, [paise fighting to allow humanitarian aid to reach Gaza, called for a two-state solution (consistently and firmly even before Netanyahu was in power), and even per some independent media reports, opposed the IDF extending military action to southern Gaza.

US Warns Israel AheaBidd of Next Phase of War in Gaza (newsweek.com)   Biden is listening.

So I wrote a rap (the lyrics at least)...with apologies to Ari Melber, who honors Tne Beat.  The implied message is to those who might be Biden voters but who throw their vote away to a third party, or minor candidate on the basis of being pure at heart, on certain issues, protesting, or just being contrary or going along with peers.. a vote for a third-party candidate is a vote for Trump.  Don't be stupid and elect him. He will not fix your student loans;, he will not keep politicians out of your bedroom and your health care choices; in fact, if you get angry, he'll just sick the active US army on your demonstrations.  Before long, we would look like every other country, Russia, China, and Hong Kong, run by an authoritarian or a dictator.   I may have had fun writing it, but the message is just darn serious. None of these candidates who are not part of the political party two party majors have a chance to be in the White House because the system, the electoral college, winner-take-all all state by state requires a large number of states to even show a blip in the electoral college.  Where the damage is in a swing state in a close election,  votes against Biden could swing a state or two to Trump since Biden's votes would be split among two or more while Trump's vote remains steady.  Then in a close electoral count, as is predicted, in 2024, one or two states could make the difference one way or the other. It has happened within the past 23 years. Imagine if Nader in Florida had not taken votes from environmentalist Al Gore. Gore's loss set the environmental movement back years.https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/how-nader-cost-gore-an-election/2015/  Hillary ran into another buzz saw in Jill Stein.  Imagine if Hillary Clinton had won that election instead of Trump. Jill Stein's Ties to Vladimir Putin Explained (newsweek.com)

Update: 11/20/2023 Whether the plight of the Palestinians will be an issue a year from now is unknown.  The obvious unconcern for their safety by the IDF has hit a sympathetic vibe among younger voters. However, much depends upon the progress made in the two-state solution and Biden's support of that for years and if he can engineer that, as well as to credit for his wisdom and skills. Also, the participation by neo-Nazis in pro-Palestinian demonstrations should be a red flag to university students that are supposedly educated about history. They are being played by some ugly forces.  In short,  much can happen between now and November 2024.

Here is what is disturbing: Trump's party is full of White Christian nationalists, anti-semites, and eeo Nazis.. It comes with the package of racism, anti-Semitism, and anti-Muslim, and Trump just announced he plans to instate a Muslim ban."  Undocumented immigrants are poisoning the blood of our country", he recently opined. Hispanics take note.  That one is straight out of the neo-Nazi playbook. He also promises to put undocumented immigrants in concentration-like camps while at the same time, using the FBI and DOJ to get revenge on those who oppose him after he replaces them with loyalists to him, not to the rule of law, or the Constitution, which he plans to rewrite. Want to vent your ire at Trump's policies?  His most recent comment should put a chill up your backs: He wants to use the active military to put down protests against him.  He tried that in Lafayette Square in the Black Lives Matter unrest, but Gen. Mark Milley  revolted and refused to let him use active military for a domestic political purpose.  Trump has called Milley a traitor   and called for him to be executed and he would appoint a yes person to the Joint Chief chair.,

From my December 16 posting: A word to those on the left from one who is hardly viewed as right-wing on civil rights and domestic issues. This initiative from the extremists on the right has nothing to do with the immorality of war; it is a political strategy to give them more power and an anti-democratic ideology. Playing their game of Putin love/isolationist/ appeasement will only lead to the possibility of getting ourselves involved in a hotter, wider war, not with a proxy like Ukraine, but actively ourselves. If we reduce our defense budget by the 10% Ukraine is costing us, do you really think the savings will be applied to domestic social programs instead of reducing taxes on the rich?    Do not be played.  The reason we are in this position now is because of a power-mad hyper-nationalist Putin, determined to recreate an empire they lost in ending the Cold War. Putin’s plan for a new Russian Empire includes both Ukraine and Belarus - Atlantic Council

Trump Suggests That Mark Milley Deserves Execution - The Atlantic

My rap on a third party theme follows

Listen my children and you will hear

my fervent fear to what you adhere

of hopes you are  given more choices not just

of only two candidates who now do appear.

You long for some younger, more genders, you say

so vote for Jill Stein or others in play.

Your hope is eternal, with goals aimed to save

us from greed  and  an earth that is near its last day..

If that’s what you think, consider this thought:

A vote for third parties will leave you distraught.

Instead, they might cause Trump to  win a  key state

and make what you hoped instead what you hate.

"Too moral to vote ",is your foolish boast?

So at home you stay, making Biden toast.

As students of history,  you should be  aware

that third party spoilers like Nader and Stein

caused  Clinton and  Gore, to lose by a hair,

and handing the White House to antagonists’ care..

MAGAS and Trump care not for more Green.

His party thinks debts  that you think are obscene.

you owe them.  You signed them. The law stands above.

Your choice of your health care or whoever you love

are no longer the freedoms  you once thought supreme.

Your urge to protest when Trump is  the head, ,

as dictator  Trump , had already  said,

“his” army  he orders will  stop you  instead.

because by that time democracy  is  dead.
