How No Kings, affordability anger, DSA's rise, ,AI- data centers flap, federalized elections, are all connected

Watching the medterms shape up, I get the impression that Democrats are on two separate tracks, yet the two are joined at the hip.  One was the fear that Trump was destroying democracy to be replaced by something more akin to fascism, and the other was affordability and other related pocketbook issues. They are just separate sides of the same coin: Trump the authoritarian believes he can ignore the economic pain of the masses to stay in power because he is so powerful. Tyrants and dictators have always believed they can ignore the unrest of the masses they govern because they gain the power, not from the voters, but from control of the reins of force.  In mid-August in Michigan, rumbles of complaint about the cost of gas were met by Trump with "suck it up" .Trump has called "affordability" a "hoax", a "con job".

JD Vance was reported to tell a Florida political candidate with affiliation with Democratic Socialism that she did not belong in America. Aside from his insult to the First Amendment, it was an obvious appeal to Cuban-Americans in that state, and reminded them that they fled to America because of socialism. I am no Democratic Socialist, and I object to replacing capitalism with that failed economic system. However, Socialism as practiced in Scandinavian countries is also firmly grounded in democracy. It works for them, and polls show them among the happiest in the world, and it works well for their traditions and sociology.  What is different about those from Cuba, Latin America,  and others that sparked the surge to the US in the past recent history is socialism and /or capitalism combined with dictatorship forms of government wth disdain for human rights, punishment of dissenters,  rule of a strong man instead of the rule of law, and control of courts and police powers. Leaders were stuffing their pockets, or so devoted to retaining power that they failed to deal with poverty. That created the exit from their country of those seeking "freedom", freedom from poverty and freedom from oppression of their human rights.  Desperate people with no hope for the future take desperate measures.

When dictatorships are combined with the captains of private industry and the military elsewhere, we have called that fascism, but the instruments and methods of governing by a dictator are similar even if the ideology is communism or a form of socialism. Elections are for show; the strong hand of the leader dictates who, where ,and how the elections happen. When the agenda is set, and government chosen that is responsive to the people, directly or through their elected representatives, in free and fair elections,  we call that one a democracy.

(My preferred economic system favors "capitalism with a social safety net, in case you wonder. No one goes bankrupt being sick or giving birth; everybody can have an education; no one is left on the streets. Basic human rights" as expressed so well in  a recent post I saw.)

Others abroad are watching us closely, and how they view us may come as a shock.  They are seeing how this midterm is unfolding and are disturbed. How some in the German press see it, MAGA is on the fascist track, offset or challenged by a revolt against Trump's economy that favors the rich at the expense of a struggling middle class. They see the connection between the two tracks, too.

From my prior post: https://mufticforumblog.blogspot.com/2026/09/once-us-was-model-to-world-of-how.html

Until recently, and since my junior year abroad in Berlin in the late 1950's, a unified Germany had sought to construct a liberal democracy using the US as a model (though the parliamentary system differs).  Der Spiegel's editorial expressed fear that the rest of Germany was just hand-wringing, with no idea what to do when the far-right political party, the AfD,  won a state election in Saxony.  Were the neo Nazis reviving? AfD has sometimes been accused of promoting fascist governance. (Der Spiegel is the German magazine version of Time or Newsweek, centrist)  The new model of how to stop this AfD march to more power was: brace yourself- the resistance to Trump in the USA, and in particular, the immediate reaction of his banning reporters from CNN, MSNBC, and Politico, followed by the boycott of other media in solidarity to even cover the White House.   (Update: the judge reviewing the suit filed against Trump by the banned networks temporarily restored their press passes.)

The  Der Spiegel opinion piece was a shocker to me, too, that  Trump was even viewed in the same category as the AfD, and that instead of the government of the US being the role model for how democracy should be run and act, it was the USA's local grassroots resistance movement to Trump and his policies that was now a model. If anyone understands "far right", or fascism, it is Germany.  There is a great fear among many there of its resurgence.

How does Der Spiegel see Trump and his regime in the US?  "Compared to the situation in the United States, the far right has not made significant inroads in Germany. .... In the US, by contrast, Trump holds the most powerful office in the world – for a second time. He is surrounded by a nationalist circle of advisers, backed by majorities in both chambers of Congress, supported by paramilitary police units, and secure in the knowledge that three of the nine justices on the Supreme Court were chosen by him."

The  Der Spiegel opinion piece was inspired by examples of US resistance, such as the immediate boycott by unbanned White House reporters also refusing to cover the White House media pool when Trump attempted to ban CNN, MSNow, and Politico, because he did not like how they reported his news.  Also cited as examples of resistance in the US were the local nature of the anti-AI data centers, the Minneapolis grassroots action against ICE, and more.  Der Spiegel urged those in Germany who feared the AfD to go and do likewise.

I might add that NO Kings Day on Oct. 17 is an opportunity for those in Germany to see how peaceful resistance is done, and to add their moral support to the "resistance' in the US."

From Google AI for sources, search Trump and affordability

President Donald Trump dismissed the term "affordability" as a Democrat scam and a "con job", claiming that cost-of-living concerns are a fake narrative pushed by political opponents despite ongoing high prices for housing and groceries. [1, 2, 3]

Congratulations, MAGA, you have now turned America into the nightmare our founders warned us about

Congratulations, MAGA, you have now turned America into the very nightmare our founders warned us about. In modern terms, per this opinion piece, we have turned into a fascist state (no ovens yet, just concentration camps and military occupation). Horrors, you say, how dare you call this fascism. If it isn't, what is it? Give me a better word. Then tell me how this benefits your daily life with a president obsessed with amassing power to the extent he can ignore your needs, whether it is affordable and effective modern health care, groceries, shelter, and the ability to object and be heard or to get him to change course. The more power he gets, the less he has to listen to us and how we live our daily lives. We once had a form of government of, by, and for the people. Now we have a government that has become the government of, by, and for, an all-powerful individual. He is taking away ordinary people's ability to cope and the right to object, complain, without fear or favor, or fairness, and affect what he does. He's got his agenda, and if it is not yours, or in the future it turns out not to be yours, you are SOL. Did you vote for this?

My view of white Christian nationalism as personified in the institution of Project 2025 in the Trump regime: The Christian white nationalists are those who failed to convince the majority they failed in enlist to force and bow down to them and comply. The use of government to accomplish their evangelical goals is also a testament to their failure to evangelize by other means.

What kind of dictator, this wannabe (per Gov. Pritzker) aspires to be: a fascist one?  From, a prior post: MUFTIC FORUM BLOG: What is fascism and does Trump meet the definition rev.8/13/2025 updated 8/14- 15/2025 Trump is acting like a dictator and, in many respects, like a fascist one, depending on the definition or criteria. An Australian political scientist in 2013 published a study of 1930s fascist dictators and identified some common characteristics.  In any case, you do not have to have Nazi extermination ovens to still be called a fascist. Are those who support Trump fascists, too? Take the Britt test below. Dr. Lawrence Britt, an Australian political scientist, wrote "14 Defining Characteristics of Fascism" after studying the fascists of the 1930s.

For those who wonder where they fit in, take the Britt test

In bold print are Britt's defining characteristics of fascism. In Italics, my reason for contending Trump is meeting or not meeting those characteristics.

Nationalism: saying one's own country is better than other countries. Not exactly: Trump contends the US is failing and other countries are taking advantage of us.
Disdain for human rights: The core issues are around due process, and cruelty in imprisonment and snatching off the street because a person looks like a "Mexican". Trump would welcome those from Norway, however, to migrate to the US. Obviously, white people are not targeted.
Scapegoating: blaming someone else for the country's problems: Trump is constantly whining about migrants from south of the border who are rapists and murderers and criminals; now he and his supporters are hinting they want to stop birthright citizenship and revoke refugee status, as well as revoke already granted citizenships.
Putting the military first: Only if it pledges loyalty to Trump, passes his test for that, or is not led by women, non white people, gays, etc. The assumption is that black and brown people and women are inherently not as competent as men. More faith is put in paramilitary ICE, masked, not in uniform, pardoning militias, unregulated, from violent acts that were found guilty by juries for insurrection. Insurrection is fine if it is done in support of Trump, is the message. His use of the national guard on streets does not address underlying problems of homelessness and crime, but is only for show, a temporary drama, and an attempt to see if he can get away with declaring a bogus emergency, nationally or locally as a way to assert his willingness to use the military against their own fellow citizens as his campaign of fear and suppression of demonstrations of opposition. (His use of the military to get us used to armed occupation to put down any demonstrations and the pretension and show that he cares about crime, as he grants pardons to criminals who supported him.)

Sexism: saying men are better than women: End DEI, equal rights for genders, and a mantra incompetent in military (as above) and tolerates Hegseth's religion that women shouldn't even be able to vote; found in civil suit Trump was liable for rape, has: boasted of p grabbing and now his relationship with Epstein, his attempt to sidestep and hide evidence. is causing suspicion as he is hiding something and apparently fears exposure.
Control of mass media: telling newspapers and other sources of news what they can and cannot tell the people: Threatens to yank broadcast licenses, forces broadcast media mergers until they fire objectionable comedians; cuts funding the public broadcasting; stops access to White House briefings if he does not like the reporter.
Focus on national security: Crickets on this one. Trump undermines cybersecurity funding, trusts Russia's CRU more than the US CIA,... Uses bogus claims of national emergency to bring in active military and national guard; once, Trump tried to get the military to shoot black lives matter protestors in the legs. Ok if Russia interferes in elections or land-grabbing aggression, undermines NATO. Hints would not honor article 5, does not care if Europe feels threatened if Russia takes all of Ukraine, advocates peace at any price, even if it endangers world or regional peace. Thinks appeasement works.
Close ties between religion and government: Follows and achieves white nationalist Christian plan (Project 2025) to replace the personnel in the various branches and agencies with their ideologues..
Protection of businesses and corporations: Destroys or subverts consumer and environmental protection agencies; gives special tax breaks to corporations; tells lies that tariff costs are not passed on to customers in higher prices
Suppression of labor power: preventing labor unions from becoming powerful: against right-to-work laws; promotes non-union auto assembly shops, puts flunkies in charge of the NLRB
Disdain for intellectuals and the arts: telling people not to listen to scientists, scholars, and artists, took over the Kennedy Center; trashes White House historical decor with gold gilt; anti-science in control of scientific agencies like Robert Kennedy Jr.; calls any evidence of global warming a fraud; disbands key climate and weather forecasting agencies. Dictates to Harvard and Columbia what curriculum should be, or lose government contracts, and then uses them to cow every other research institute associated with a private university with similar threats
Focus on crime and crimefighting: Ignores crimes that are committed by supporters or pardons those convicted of crimes who he likes, January 6 rioters, and even criminals and murderers imprisoned in foreign prisons. Using "national security" bogus excuses to crack down on local enforcement agencies in DC and LA, while threatening other major cities that have black mayors.
Corruption: conducted in plain sight with his cryptocurrency, with sales and investments based on his name and position, selling access to foreign interests to him for dinners, etc, hiding campaign contributions in crypto; accepts gifts (747) from princes;
.Fraudulent elections: Claims any vote where the tally goes against him is always because the election was stolen or there was fraud, always without evidence. Tried to get loyalists to get control of voting machines; claimed over 60 state elections were fraudulent in 2020, and no court found evidence of it; Still claims the 2020 election was stolen but never coughed up evidence after 5 years of trying.. Instructed Texas to start gerrymandering districts to get 5 more House seats and in order to misrepresent voters' will, deprive racial minorities of Congressional representation, and fix the 2026 elections. They want to federalize elections and take the administrative power away from states, giving Trump the power to more easily control the outcome to benefit him. Trump wants to control the vote count by federal control of voting machines and banning mail in ballots. He got his advice from Putin, per the New York Times. MAGA's Epstein conspiracy theory is what it is like in one party/person rule

Watching what is going on in MAGA land regarding the "Epstein Files", reminds me of what it is like to be in the thrall of a dictator/authoritarian. There is a lesson here. Towing the party line can result in mental whiplash, requiring all loyalists to be very agile and up-to-date. The mental and verbal agility required of followers of a wannabe King (dictator, etc) to survive in a regime is sometimes jaw-dropping.   Three days ago, there was an Epstein file (a little black book) of his customers of pedophilia. There was a conspiracy to kill him to keep it under wraps. He didn't commit suicide; he was killed...and the FBI has the keys to the drawer where the evidence is kept."  Today, per Trump," there was no list, nothing to see here; go on pay attention to other things like how he is getting rid of undocumented brown murderers and rapists. Amid a weekend, even some Epstein conspiracy theory backers heard Trump's call: "nothing to see here, no list, so shut up." And in a whiplash weekend, they started echoing the Trump line": no list, move on".

My late husband of over 50 years was a refugee from a communist dictatorship of Yugoslavia and had learned to keep on his toes to be successful and told me about an eye-opening event that illustrated this. I wrote this in a prior post last fall. Here is what happened when my late husband, Dr. Mike Muftic, was a medical student in Zagreb, then Yugoslavia, and at that time led by dictator Comrade Josip Broz Tito.  The Tito regime had been in power for nearly ten years. It was a communist regime allegedly dedicated to all people being economically equal, a revolt from the time of the King and privileged classes. Milovan Djilas, a comrade-in-arms and close friend of Comrade Tito, was considered the ideological guru of the regime and, at one time, Tito's potential successor. He was a dedicated believer in Marxist ideology in its purest form. To him, the dictatorship of the proletariat meant that the workers were in charge, not the apparatchiks or bureaucrats. He had become appalled at fellow high-ranking government officials and overbearing government administrators who were becoming the new privileged lords, chauffeured in Mercedes-driven cars, with better housing, and vacationing at seaside resorts on the government's dime. Djilas wrote a book, "The New Class," to express his criticism of the new class.  Mike arrived for the class at medical school as the communist party commissar in charge of keeping the faith, as medical school students were praising Djilas' book and righteously criticizing the privileged class.  In response, however, Comrade Tito was not pleased, seeing it as a threat to his power since he relied on the support of those he favored and to whom he gave employment and perks, the new class, and issued a warning.  The next morning, the same communist party commissar was holding forth, repeating Tito's criticism and telling the crowd of students around him how terrible Djilas was.  It was heresy, and this was and is the party line the students had to repeat: Djilas was wrong. Failure to recite the party line could lead to loss of future desired hospital appointments, loss of preferred professors, or worse. Djilas spent years in prison. To get ahead, you had to repeat the party line in both public and private settings, as there were loyalists everywhere who would report you to their superiors.

Been there, done it: This why I take fascism and dictatorships so seriously

This is why I am attacking Trump for planning and promising to become a fascist-like dictator and why I am so alarmed that so many do not care. It is personal to me. I have been there and done that. What became history to my children and grandchildren were current events to me. I was born in 1938 and have vivid memories of World War II . Even in my 6 and 7-year-old brain, I knew what enemies of America looked like and., and if we did not beat the Nazis, I experienced the fear my parents felt we would be governed by the evil fascists. We didn't know about Auschwitz yet.. As a 20-year-old, I spent my college junior year in rubble-emerging, war-devastated, pre-wall Berlin, and I had a first-row seat to how Communist dictators consolidated their power in the East Zone they controlled. It was in Berlin I met my husband-to-be of 52 years, who was planning to be a refugee from the communist dictatorship of Yugoslavia. He succeeded, even when threatened by foreign agents. I know how it works firsthand in both communist and fascist dictatorships; how individual liberties are destroyed, from the lost choices of a future profession., the fear of saying aloud what you really thought, the inability to break out of the restraints of mind-controlling propagandized media, the corruption such systems foster and how everyday life is controlled. To see America thinking about becoming a fascist dictatorship under the leadership of Donald Trump, one who tried to be one when he was president, and now is so open about becoming one in practice (if until recently not openly called one), is a bookend to my life that horrifies me. Those younger than me do not have a clue of the dangers and the loss of so many freedoms of what they wish. It is an irony of my life that I was born in the times of fascism and could die in the times of fascism and that I was so fortunate to live in American democracy in the years in between.

For those who object to Trump being tagged as a fascist, as those who knew him best call him "fascist to the core" and "he fits the definition", here are the definitions and reasons for not only my agreement but for raising the issue on this site for several years: Argue with me if you will. MUFTIC FORUM BLOG: Gen.Milley and Gen.Kelly aren't kidding " Trump's a fascist updated 10/25/24

_______________________________________________________________________________

In response to a comment on my Facebook posting, Iwas asked "why you attack Trump if you do not provide what the other side would do better. If you don't do that, you have lost the argument."

Harris has the best answer: "Trump has an enemies list; I have a to-do list."

Here is my response: What is this argument about? What good is anyone's position on public policy issues when its fate is made moot by a fascist system with the rule of an autocrat? Fascism v democracy is the fundamental question: how those issues get determined and enacted. All public policy issues are determined by the system and who controls the system: an autocrat or the voters. What Harris would do to democracy is keep it as a system that gives voters control over public policies through the ballot. That is it. Simple. What Trump would do is attempt to set up a fascist dictatorship. Essentially, the difference is Trump wants to end democracy as we have known it and replace it with a fascist system, and Harris is for no change. So far as public policy issues are concerned, that is a separate debate topic that has been fully discussed in my blog. Public policy issues concern government policy on immigration, abortion, tariffs, taxation, civil rights, inflation,  grocery and housing prices, etc.

In another response through private channels, the responder said that he would not post on FB because he had gotten threats and did not want to deal with the drama. I understand all too well. That is the way dictators, both fascists and communists, work.  Imagine a whole country like that, as I personally witnessed in Yugoslavia. Ordinary people concerned about their own safety or the next promotion just keep their heads down, mouths shut, and be able to parrot back the dear leader's own most up-to-date opinions. There are those all around who have big ears and who are willing to squeal to their upstream handlers. It is already happening in 2024, with Trump running a campaign of fear and retribution promised if he is re-elected.  I wonder if there are hidden Harris votes that are not being honest with pollsters or refusing to even be polled.  They are not cowards; they are in survival and self-protection mode. I get it. Be thankful your vote is still counted, and the election is as free and fraudless as it is in 2024.  That reality, too, goes away in a dictatorship, fascist or communist.

Trump thinks fear of immigrants will get him the dictatorial power he craves. Is he wrong? updated 4/4/2024

Trump thinks fear of immigrants will help get him the dictatorial power he craves. Is he wrong? It has gotten him far ever since he cut his teeth on birtherism and entered presidential politics on the golden escalator. Copycat Trump thinks he is onto a good thing.  He may be evil, pandering to racism, the darkest side of humans, but he is not mistaken.    It worked for others, too, to consolidate dictatorial power, especially those he admires like Viktor Orban of Hungary, Erdogan of Turkey, and  Putin, as well. It is not in his interest to see a solution as the bi-partisan bill would have done.  Instead, he continues to rant about the dangerous immigrants flooding into the country while destroying the funding and the ability to screen them the bill provided when he demanded the MAGA House members declare the bill DOA.  Every one of those so dangerous immigrants who jump the river is on him from here on. Any thinking person should recognize that racist ranting is what it is...racist pandering to other racists..and a cynical campaign tactic.

When Orban visits Mar-A-Lago within a few days, and the two exchange trade secrets, the languages may translate, but the countries are very different. Orban's advice may work for Hungary about how to become a dictator by appealing to racist nationalists in a country that is 97% ethnic Magyar, while in the US the white population is under 60% and a significant number of them are not racist white supremacists.   https://www.pbs.org/newshour/world/hungarys-viktor-orban-to-visit-former-president-donald-trump-at-florida-home-next-week#:

https://mufticforumblog.blogspot.com/2022/08/cpac-cheers-white-nationalist-dictator.html

https://mufticforumblog.blogspot.com/2024/03/viktor-orban-dangerous-role-model-for.html

Sure we have an immigration problem, a broken system that is so dysfunctional, that jumping the river is an act of desperation by those fleeing violence and hopeless poverty. What we need is not a racist, anti-brown, White Nationalist, policy and slamming the door shut on all immigrants. Be careful what you wish. The unintended consequences are profound. What we need is sanity, a system that works as designed now, that conforms to our national ideals, ones that are not based on fear and hate. Trump just killed one that would have taken us there and funded it.

We have a political leader whose main platform is hatred and fear-mongering. Many who are ignorant or paranoid or racist do easily believe immigrants are what Trump calls them, rapists, murderers, poisoning our blood (pure Nazi words), and escapees from an insane asylum. Immigrants have a 30% lower incarceration rate than nonimmigrants. https://siepr.stanford.edu/news/mythical-tie-between-immigration-and-crime  Be afraid of them is his motto he tries to ride the same driver of hatred of immigrants and others different from his supporters.

It is that fear factor ginned up by power-hungry demagogues that fueled the rise of modern-day dictators like Viktor Orban (fear of Syrian refugees), Erdogan (fear of Kurds), and Putin  (Chechnya. Breslan School siege, and hyper Russian Orthodox nationalism) and historical ones like Hitler. (Hatred of Jews). Once in power, they stay in power as they use their newfound power to destroy even further any chance of democracy surviving or reviving..  In each of these cases, fear of others not of their pure blood or religion gave them the ability to convince fellow citizens to give up their form of democracy and their own personal civil rights to seek salvation in a "strong man", "autocrat'. a "dictator". In each of these cases, once these wannabe modern dictators got into office,  destroyed immigration or subdued immigrants, they also seized and amassed power, feathered their nests, and kept power once the "crisis" was over.  They remain in office until this very day.  In Hitler's case, his militaristic economy and society ended in rubble and his own life came to an end in a Berlin bunker.  Copycat Trump thinks he is onto a good thing.  Those who put their faith in some strong man because of fear of immigrants were a bunch of fools who have been played successfully by power-seeking demagogues.

What we need is a sane immigration system that recognizes and administers immigration laws, well funded, with the capability to execute the laws that set priorities and screen immigrants desiring to enter the US.  That sanity was contained in the Senate version of border security laws which House Speaker Johnson declared DOA under the orders of Donald Trump. If the Senate version had passed, Trump would have lost his best sales pitch, to keep the chaos flaming on the front burner so "only he could fix it". . His promise: he would round up and put into concentration camps at least nine million for processing the deportation of the undocumented, even those who were not rapists, or murderers, but otherwise law-abiding, moms, dads, and DACA kids.   Expect even those with green cards and citizenship who look Hispanic to be stopped and questioned or produce their documents. The racial profiling and trampling of rights would be epic.

This is in addition to the historical and moral history of the US, a nation of immigrants, who have brought innovation, talent, and the storied work ethic of immigrants and first-generation and beyond descendants.

One of my puzzles is why south Florida immigrants are so attracted to Trump, who calls their countries of origin sh... ho..   countries and immigrants from them are poisoning the blood of Americans. Why would Venezuelans want to trade a dictatorship like Maduro for another dictator like Trump?  It seems like such racism would be a turnoff, but it is not.  In fact, his anti-immigrant posture is OK for those already in the US because it must not seem as if it is aimed at them but at those at the southern border.  I have always thought there was an element of class in the Venezuelan Miami community, having had some conversations with them in the early 2000s' in international clubs as we awaited plane changes to the Caribbean.  The first refugees were the middle and upper classes fleeing the Chavez/Maduro regime, and the more recent ones were the young and lower classes.   Jose Diaz-Balart shed some light on it on MSNBC in interviews  4 4 2024 with current Miami immigrants, many with family ties back in their country of origin.  They are angry that the Biden administration has not done more to come down harder on the Cuban, Madoro, and other bad actor regimes; they have ignored these troubled countries,  and they also fear the influx of the less desirable into their communities.  They relate to Trump's characterization of the immigrants at the border now and do not see it as a reflection of their race or ethnic origin.

WHAT IS DRIVING ANTI-DEMOCRACY MAGA GOP EXTREMISM?

WHAT IS DRIVING THIS ANTI-DEMOCRACY MAGA GOP EXTREMISM?

Survey: A large number of Americans want an anti-democratic leader | Preserving Democracy | PBS

More adapted from my Facebook posting 9/19/23 The MAGA extremists are supporting autocracy, the opposite of democracy, instead because they are frustrated they are unable to get their agenda implemented under the democratic process. Their answer: destroy the democratic process and replace it with an autocracy so their strong man becomes the ruler over all three branches of government. That is one conclusion drawn from a highly touted book: ‘Tyranny of the Minority’ writers say Constitution not strong enough to protect democracy | PBS NewsHour Their role model, as CPAC fawns over the dictator Viktor Orban in Hungary as the method. He is particularly popular with right-wing extremists who are also white nationalists since Hungary is also 99% Christian. The Orbab model is frankly dangerous to US peace and prosperity since Hungary is not a multiracial society. The major problem: Hungary is nearly 99% ethnically pure and only uses the language widely spoken by its citizens.. The Orban message and media are under his control. The USA is less than 60% racially white, and in a few years, that demographic trend will see the current racial minority become the majority. The only way to make the US a white e Christian nation is to suppress and cow the increasingly larger minority. In a multi-racial society, implementing the Orban model would make chaos look like mild reaction.

The facebook posting continues updated:: Biden also puts democracy on the world agenda today at the UN. President Joe Biden speaks at United Nations General Assembly (usatoday.com)A major part of the GOP is also committing a serious blunder by failing to support Ukraine's attempt to become democratic instead of an appendix of Russia and dictator Putin's style of governance. By failing to continue our commitment to Ukraine, the MAGA folks who say we should focus on China only gives the signal to the Chinese autocratic regime that America has chosen to be weak militarily and isolationist.. This not only threatens Europe's ability to stop Putin's stated goal of reassembly of former USSR satellites under his control, it would create a military crisis in Europe, even if the extreme MAGAs succeed in defanging NATO's mutual defense treaty as Trump tried to do when he was president. Welcome to 1939 as the result of 1930's isolationists who were fooled and fools that failed to stop the fascist power grabs.. In 2023, the US is even more closely linked in economy and defense than in 1939... It greenlights China's takeover of Tawan and the trade routes used by US commerce in Southeast Asia. Not only are these extremist anti-democracy fools just like their isolationist predecessors in 1939, but they are a threat to US security and business interests, as well. furthermore, at the UN on 9/19/23, Biden also made a powerful statement in support of Ukraine to wide applause: if we permit Ukraine to be carved up, then no nation's sovereignty and borders and human rights are safe.

Finally Biden takes off the kid gloves and attacks Trump as wanting to destroy democracy

Based on a Facebook posting 9/19/23.

Finally, Biden is beginning to sharpen his attack on Donald Trump. Monday night, he charged Trump is out to destroy democracy. It is time he took off his kid gloves because what is at stake is fundamental to our way of life. .. .. and polls are beginning to show anti-democracy movement is gaining in popularity among MAGA GOP loyalists and many more. This is also republished as a separate blog posting WHAT IS DRIVING THIS ANTI-DEMOCRACY MAGA GOP EXTREMISM?

The MAGA extremists are supporting autocracy, the opposite of democracy, instead because they are frustrated they are unable to get their agenda implemented under the democratic process. The Orban model is frankly dangerous to US peace and prosperity since Hungary is not a multiracial society. The major problem: Hungary is nearly 99% ethnically pure and only uses the language widely spoken by its citizens.. The Orban message and media are under his control. This not only threatens Europe's ability to stop Putin's stated goal of reassembly of former USSR satellites under his control, but it would also create a military crisis in Europe, even if the extreme MAGAs succeed in defanging NATO's mutual defense treaty as Trump tried to do when he was president.
